Gents Results.

Voucher 2025 has come and gone! A fantastic 73 entries over the weekend thanks to everyone who took part! (Please note: any non-returns are not included in the results .) Only one man emerged victorious. Huge congratulations to Hugh Gralton, winner of the Voucher 2025 with a superb score of 66net. Men’s Winter Program. Don’t let the winter season keep you off the course.This winter, we’re mixing things up with a series of fun and relaxed team competitions. From 2-man scrambles to 3-man waltzes and shambles over 9–12 holes (depending on weather and course work). First competition: Weekend of 8th & 9th November. Whether you’re chasing points . enjoying a friendly game , or just getting some fresh air there’s something for everyone! Winter golf is a great way to stay sharp, enjoy good company , and make the most of those crisp mornings. Grab a partner, wrap up warm , and join the fun. The course is open, the banter’s flowing, and every round counts! 2-Man Team Formats. 1. Better Ball (Stableford) Each plays their own ball best net score counts. Record the lowest net score (after handicap). Played as Stableford. Example: A = 4 (net 3), B = 5 (net 4) team score = 3. 2. Scramble (Texas Scramble 2Man) Both tee off, choose best shot, both play from there. Place within one club length (not nearer the hole). Each player must use at least 3 tee shots. Handicap: 35% of lower + 15% of higher. 3. Foursomes (Alternate Shot) One ball, players alternate shots. A tees off on odd holes, B on even holes. Penalty strokes don’t change order. Handicap: ½ combined total. 4. Greensomes (Modified Foursomes) Both tee off choose best drive alternate shots in. Handicap: 60% of lower + 40% of higher. 5. Pinehurst (Chapman System) Both tee off swap balls for 2nd shot choose one ball alternate in. Handicap: 60% of lower + 40% of higher. 3 Man Team Formats. 6. Texas Scramble (3-Man) All tee off pick best shot all play from there. Each player must contribute at least 2 tee shots.
Handicap: 20% lowest + 15% middle + 10% highest. 7. Shamble (3 Man) All tee off choose best drive each plays their own ball from that spot. Best 2 scores count. Combines scramble driving with individual play. 8. Waltz (1-2-3 Stableford) Scoring pattern: Hole 1 best 1 counts Hole 2 best 2 count Hole 3 all 3 count Repeat through 9 holes. Played as Stableford keeps it lively! 9. Step-Aside (3-Man Dropout Scramble) All tee off pick best shot player whose tee shot is chosen sits out next shot only. Each player must contribute at least 2 tee shots. Keeps everyone involved and the game moving! Let’s keep the spirit alive this winter: fun formats, good company, and plenty of laughs on the fairways! More details each week as we go, but that’s a flavour of what’s ahead this winter season. Gents Matchplay 2025.

Congrats to Hugh Bracken and James Conners who have reached the final of the Fourball. They will play the winners of John Coffey & Anthony Noone v John Hardman & Leo Noone. Congrats to Niall Hanley and Hugh Bracken who have reached the final of the Lynch Cup. And in the scramble match play the following are in the semi-finals. Enda McDermott & Calum McGirl will play Liam Bruen & Nathan Flynn. Noel McDermott & Marc McDermott will play Brendan Boyle and Sam Boyle. All of the above matches must be completed Immediately.

Congrats To Kevin McKenna in Professional Golfers Association Tankard.

Congrats to Kevin McKenna from Carrick-on-Shannon Golf club who came 2nd in the National Final of the P.G.A. Tankard which was played in Druids Heath Golf club last Friday 10th of October. Kevin qualified from the regional finals to reach the All Ireland finals. Everyone at Carrick Golf club is very proud of Kevin’s achievements. Well done Kevin.

Patrick Martin Wins World Amateur Golf Ranking Competition.

Congratulations to Carrick golf club’s very own Patrick Martin who won the U21 WAGR competition in a playoff, held at our club last weekend. Patrick and Danny Lyne both finished on 3 under par after 54 holes. Patrick won on the first play-off hole. Well done and congrats from all at the club. This was a major competition for our club held last weekend. Our course was in excellent condition thanks to the course staff and volunteers. Despite the storm the course was in excellent playing conditions. We had top young golfers from all over Ireland playing. Also from the club Charlie Boyle Aaron Gibney and Luke Creighton were playing in this competition. Great credit is due to the excellent work done by all in the club to promote our Juniors all looks good for the future.
