What a great success Last weekend’s Taylor Services competition has been. Last year there were 98 players, this year we had an amazing 147 players. Thanks again to Taylor Cleaning services who put up a huge prize fund of €1,000. The 5 club competition has really captured the imagination of the club. Thank you to everyone who has played this weekend. There were 5 category prizes. The results were as follows. Cat 1 0-10 Paul Roche 40pts. Cat 2 11-14 Kevin Ward. 38pts. Last weekend’s Competition was The Maher Cup which was very kindly sponsored by The Oarsman Bar & Restaurant The Oarsman is a multi- award winning Michelin Guide Bar & Restaurant, with fine wines, craft beers and local organic and sustainable food, it is situated on Bridge Street. It sports a splendid atmosphere , attentive staff, great food and music. Regardless of what you choose from the menu you will not be disappointed, the fish dishes are a sure fire hit while everything else is also fantastic and the breads baked on site are simply to die for. Times may change, things change but the Oarsman has always remained consistently excellent. We are lucky to have such a fine restaurant in our town. Friday 9 Hole 1st Catherine Moreton (19 Points) (on countback) Wednesday Scramble We had a large turnout of ladies for last Wednesday’s Scramble, which was President Anthony’s Scramble. The large number playing is a reflection of the esteem in which President Anthony is held within the Club. Results are as follows: 1st Jessie Doherty/Catherine Morton/and Marion O'Carroll 28 Nett. 2nd Frances Molloy/Helen Lavin/Carmel Garvey 30 Nett. 3rd Mary King/Margaret Killoran/Mary Moreton with 31 nett. Prizes will be presented by Anthony on Saturday night July 4th. We wish him a very enjoyable President's weekend and much success for the remainder of his term. Recent presentations We recently held presentations for the following competitions, Mulley’s House of Gifts, Sonnies Cafe and Trailblazers* we sincerely thank these businesses for their continuing support. Our winners were delighted with their prizes. These businesses are the lifeblood of our town, they support us each year without question. We therefore ask all our members to support these businesses with their custom and to also encourage family, neighbours, and friends to do likewise. Ladies Results.

This weekend’s competition was very kindly sponsored by Di Vino Italian Restaurant. We sincerely thank them for their continued and very valued support. Di Vino' is a little slice of Italy, located on Bridge Street. When you enter this restaurant you are temporarily transported to Italy, surrounded by its authentic aromas and tastes. Challenge Trophy Congratulations and well done to our Challenge Trophy Team who played in Strokestown on Wednesday last, and have qualified from a field of 20 teams. They are now in the Connacht Final in Ballinamore on Thursday 9th July. Team members are Mary Blake, Eithne McGuire, Mena Doherty, Marese Monaghan and Autumn Wood, Expertly guided by team Captain Mary Molloy. Well done ladies.

Inter Club Results.

Our mixed team was in action last Wednesday evening against Strandhill. Congrats to Strandhill on winning the match 3 1. The team were as follows. Team Captains Novis Farris and Alan Ffrench. Away Ann Keenan and Keith Duignan. Mary King and Gordan Kavanagh.Home Siobhan Talbot and Brendan Boyle. Dolores Mulvey and Charlie Boyle. Also our Jimmy Bruen team was playing Tubbercurry in the 2 nd round. We were very unlucky to have lost on the play-off hole. Good luck to Tubbercurry in the next roumd.Team were as follows. Captain David McDermott. Away John Coffey and Padraig McShera. Niall Keaney and Niall Loftus. Home Alan Ffrench and Lochlinn Conboy. Paul Roche and John Hardman. The OBN Series is in its third year and our first Sponsor has been with us since day one. It’s the Curamach Strings Competition. Last year the sponsors changed this competition to a 2 person team event and it was a great success. It;s so unique that every 6 holes the format changes. The The first 6 holes are four ball better ball, the next 6 holes are a 2 man scramble and the final 6 holes are Scotch Foursomes. We hope you all enjoyed the Curamach Strings Competition. It was a very busy weekend for everyone with two local Golf societies outing, and Roscommon playing in Monaghan but we had a great turn out. Last year we had 49 teams (98players) . This year we had 59 teams (118 players) of the 118 players. This is a great turn out taking into account the requirement to organise opposite players. 9 who played were visitors resulting in 1,405 euro revenue for the club. Carton Cup Commiserations to our team of Mena Doherty, Melissa Collins, Eithne McGuire, Marion Dolan and Margaret Killoran ably guided by team management of Phil Emmett and Jenny Bruen who played Crover home and away, last Wednesday. It was a very tight run thing but lady luck was not on our side on this occasion, there is always next year ladies. Well done to all involved in this round and previous round.
