Golf Club News Update

Dear Members, A further brief update on a few areas in advance of this weekend’s annual club classic’ Annual Club Classic 2024. A reminder that the annual club classic takes place this weekend (June Bank Holiday weekend -Friday to Monday inc.). Thanks to the Landmark Hotel again for being our lead sponsor and to the many other sponsors that have supported us this year. The entry fee for a team of 4 players is €200.00, including a meal. There will be great prizes on the day. The tee times are booking up well, so please get your team in asap. Again, we encourage you to invite some non-members. Let’s make it a great weekend. A note of sincere thanks to all of the ladies and gents volunteers (members and non-members) who showed up last week to do some great work tidying up around the clubhouse and driving in areas. We rely on members volunteering for this and other work and it is always appreciated. Sports Capital Grant. We submitted a very comprehensive application to the Sports Capital Grant fund, for our much-needed drainage works and to make the club more accessible. We anxiously await further news on the government’s announcement of the successful applicants and their allocations. We would hope for some announcement on these soon. So, fingers crossed for now. I will keep you advised. Carrick on Shannon Golf Club 50/50 Draw. Congratulations to Damien Killoran, who was the winner of our second 50/50 draw taking away a prize of €520. Our next draw will take place on Friday 7th June. A reminder that you can sign up to this draw by setting up a fortnightly standing order, of €5.00 to the club’s bank account. You will then be entered into each draw. The club bank details are; Carrick on Shannon Golf Club. AIB Bank, Carrick on Shannon BIC: AIBKIE2D IBAN: IE81 AIBK 9370 6104 0346 24 The Club House The work on the club house to meet the legal fire safety standards is now completed. I think you will concur, that it is probably looking the best that it has for many years. Also, the club shop is now staffed 7 days a week, for your convenience. This is proving to be very beneficial in taking in green fees, societies and generally giving a much more professional experience to members and visitors. OBN Series The second qualifier in the OBN series took place last weekend, the Neary Accountants competition. This is proving to be a very successful series, even at this early stage. I do apologise for the awful commentary provided by Paul O’Brien on this series. I suppose though, he is the sponsor so we will just have to bear with it for now! Closing comments As always, we face many challenges. But the playing numbers in competitions are up, our club house is looking great. We have plans for drainage works on the course and an investment in our driving range. So, stay positive, enjoy the golf and I hope to see you all at the classic this coming weekend.Regards,Paul Reid Club Captain ReplyForward

Carrick Golf Club New 50/50 Draw.`

The Club would like to congratulate Damien Kiloran from Ballyfarnon on winning last week’s 50/50 Draw which was £520 euro. The parent committee of the golf club has agreed to cease our current club lotto and to move to a new 50/50 draw. A dedicated 50/50 committee has been established to set this up and to oversee the same. This will be an exciting opportunity to significantly increase the prize money to the winners and eliminate the club costs paid to our current lotto third-party providers. The key principles of the draw are as follows. Each draw will take place fortnightly. Ideally, people would pay fortnightly through a bank standing order. However, there will also be envelopes in certain locations for one-off entries. A minimum entry of €5.00 per person each fortnight. However, there is no limit on the number of entries that you may wish to make for each draw. We encourage all members to sign up for the new 50/50 draw. The more that is in…the more you can win! The first 50/50 draw took place last Friday, 10th May. Those set up at that stage by standing order will enter the first draw automatically. You can, of course, join at any stage after that, but we would encourage you to get in from the start. To sign up by standing order, of €5.00 per fortnight, the following are the Golf Club bank details; Account Name: Carrick on Shannon Golf Club IBAN: IE81 AIBK 9370 6104 0346 24 BIC: AIBKIE2D So please sign up and ask a family member or a friend. And remember, “It could be you”! The next draw is on Friday 7th of June in the club house.
