The Late Esther Feely.

When the news filtered through of the untimely death of our own beloved past Lady Captain & past Club President Esther the total shock & huge sense of loss was felt by all who knew her. Esther was a beautiful, gentle, dignified, gracious, elegant person- a true lady who touched our lives in so many ways on or off the course. However, when it came to golf she was a most able and competitive player who represented her club at all levels proving to be a most formidable opponent. Her swing was the envy of many but she was always helpful and encouraging to the fledglings. Both herself and Peter served the Club so well in both serving roles as Captains & Presidents- the first husband and wife duo to do so. To you Peter, Aengus, Roberta, FelimyAnn, Peter, Lewis, Fergus, Fanchea, Finbar, your extended family & adored grandchildren we are so sorry for the unfillable void. Esther may your beautiful gentle soul always be straight down the middle of the fairways in Heaven RIP – we miss you.

O.B.N. Series.

The 4th OBN series qualifier the Arigna fuels competition has broken major new ground for the series. 153 players played in the competition.33 people re-entered and there were 23 visitors. It shatters all previous playing numbers and gives great encouragement to the organisers that the whole idea is working. The course is in great shape and continuing to improve by the day. The way we allocated the prize fund was very much welcomed and the weather was perfect. There will be no detailed report on this week’s competition in respect of our good friend and member Gordan Kavanagh who’s wife Sharron passed away Saturday night suddenly. May she rest in peace. The 5th OBN series qualifier is next weekend from Friday the 22nd to Sunday the 24th of August. It promises to be a great fun competition with an amazing prize fund of €1,000. All visitors are very welcome and if you mess up your first go you can re-enter as many times as you like. Sponsored by Neary Accountants Boyle and Leitrim village.
