Fri 13th, Sat 14th & Sun 15th Oct 2023 – Gents 18 Hole Singles Stableford – Non GOY.18 hole singles, Stableford. Entry Fee €10. Open to play from White or yellow tee’s.Please ensure you check into office before play, read local rules, sign in for the competition & receive course & playing handicap. After your round, verify your score with a playing partner, sign your card, ask the verifier to sign the card.Use the computer or masterscoreboard.co.uk to enter your score and place the card in the box.Failure to do the above will result in disqualification.Please ensure pitch-marks are repaired on the greens and divots are replaced on the fairways. Prizes for this competition will be awarded based on handicap index categories.The handicap categories will be divided to have an equal number of entries for each category, depending on the handicap indexes of the entries for the competition.

The Late Aidan McNally.

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Family of our past Captain Aidan McNally Shannon Lodge Carrick-onShannon and Lisbrack Longford. Aidan was captain in 1990. He also served in various officer positions in the club for many years and was very popular with all the members. Predeceased by his wife Breda, brother Rene, sister Irene. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving sons Conor (Dublin), Shane (Carrick-on-Shannon), daughters Paula (Scotland), Brenda (Carrick-on-Shannon), Joanne (Dublin), grandchildren Aisling, Niamh, Sinead, Zoe and Billy, great grandchildren Rian, Caoimhe, Oisin, Cillian and Aodhla, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, sister Patsy (Limerick), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and good friends.May he rest in peace.

Seniors News

Last Thursday’s golf was cancelled due to poor ground conditions. On Monday the 9th October the Seniors outing to Athlone took place and results will be published next week. The Captains prize will take place next Thursday the 12th October.

Juniors Results

The final of the Under 13 “Sixes Competition” was held at Carrick on Shannon Golf Club recently. Children from Tubbercurry, Strokestown, Carrick on Shannon, Castlerea, Swinford, and Ballyhaunis participated in the Competition. Six children from six clubs played six holes at six different venues during the Summer. The aim was to introduce the children to Competitions. Parents & children had a great fun day out. Congratulations to our junior convenors Alan Ffrench and Anne Cox on the wonderful junior golf program that they ran during the Summer. There were over 70 children involved. The Carrick on Shannon Under 13 team who represented Carrick on Shannon at the final of the sixes competition at Carrick on Shannon Golf Club recently.

Seniors Results

Last Thursday’s golf was cancelled due to poor weather conditions and the fact that some of the course was not playable. The Captain’s prize is now rescheduled for Thursday the 12th October. The outing to Belmullet took place last Monday and Tuesday. It was a Texas Scramble Stableford and the results are as follows:- On Monday the overall winning team had 46 points and the members were John O’Mahony; Michael Delorey; Seamus Sheeran and Dermot Conlon. In second place with 39 points was Albert Hogg; Pascal McGuire and Anthony Noone. Third place was won by Chris Lowe; P J Sharkey and Robbie Donaldson with 38 points. On Tuesday the winning team members were John O’Mahony; Paddy Dillon and Eamonn Costello with a score of 51 points. In second place with 46 points – Tommy Mulvey; Pascal McGuire; Dermot Monaghan and Dermot Conlon. Third place was won by Chris Lowe; Anthony Noone; P J Sharkey and Robbie Donaldson with 45 points. Golf as usual next Thursday.

Ladies Results

The club would like to thank the Management at Soilse Pharmacy for their very generous sponsorship of last weekend’s competition. The results were as follows. 1st Phil Emmett 32pts. 2nd Siobhan Talbot 32pts. Congrats to the winners.

Senior Results.

The overall winner last Thursday was Kevin O’Rourke with a score of 43 points. Category one winner was Leo Kavanagh with 37 points; Category two winner was Pascal McGuire with 36 points and Category three winner was Dermot Conlon for the second week in a row with 43 points. The front nine was won by Eamonn Costello with 21 points and the back nine was won by Michael Keville with 21 points. Captains prize is on next Thursday all members please support.
