Seniors News.

Last Thursday 14th December was the final outing of the year which took place over nine holes at Carrick-on-Shannon golf course. It was a very successful event and the winners were as follows:- overall winner Robbie Donaldson with 20 points. Category one winner Anthony Noone with 19 points, Category two Seamus Mulhern with 19 points and Tom Martin won Category three with 16 points. Our captain Seán Martin presented the hamper prizes to the winners in Strandhill as reported in last week’s papers. Golfer of the year was won by Gerry Emmett with an excellent score of 380 points over ten days (38 points per day). Robbie Donaldson won the Matchplay competition, the final of which was played in Strandhill at the last outing. Seán thanked all present for their continued support and attendance with a substantial number playing every Thursday and at monthly outings. He paid tribute to Kevin and his staff for an excellent Christmas dinner which was enjoyed by all present. He also thanked Supervalu in Carrick who sponsored a number of voucher prizes and thanks was also extended to other sponsors. In particular Seán acknowledged the ongoing dedication and attention to detail by Chris Lowe stating that the success of the Seniors was due in no small way to Chris and his commitment each week. Seán has now completed his two year term as Captain and an excellent captain he was. Finally Seán welcomed the incoming Captain Barry Donnellan and wished him good luck in his new role as Captain of the Seniors.
